The Morning Metropolitan

Good morning Georgetown, here’s the latest:

  • Garrett’s closed. GM heard a few months ago that they lost their lease, but he’s not sure what is supposed to go in there. GM got too old for the Garrett’s scene a long time ago, but he’s sorry to see an old standby shut down.
  • Some ideas to attract students back to campus.

Many good nights at Garrett’s (including a fun post-rehearsal dinner celebration the night before our wedding), but those have faded into the past with each passing year. And the space at Garretts was probably long-past due to be retired.

I wonder what will go in there…

I cry for the loss of Garrett’s. Classic place, and the first bar I drank.. ahem.. before my required time. I will really miss it. Each place like this that closes chips away at the character of Gtown. Meanwhile, the elderly townsfolk are probably dancing a jig and hoping nothing vibrant inhabits this space.

Sad about Garrett’s. So, now both Mendocino and Garrett’s. Not good for that stretch. Let’s hope something unique, delicious and special comes in to the space.

Carol I heard that Mendocino was re-opening in a few weeks. Will see – loved it and was a go to when folks or friends from back home came to visit.
Garrett’s would be a great place to open real neighborhood place like Nathan’s. Carol once the book tour is over – what do you say re-open Nathan’s?
