Good morning Georgetown, here’s the latest:

  • Hardy has a new principal: Mary Stefanus.
  • GM hasn’t been by to verify, but he hears that Serendipity finally opened this weekend. He took a peek through the windows on Friday. It looked like something out of Epcot Center. It probably won’t ever be a locals’ spot, but it’ll probably do gangbusters with the suburbanites and tourists (see: Georgetown Cupcake, business model of).

Good morning Georgetown, here’s the latest:

  • GM had a prior commitment and couldn’t make it to the Hardy PTA meeting Wednesday night. Thankfully Shaun Courtney was on the job.
  • Some councilmembers are proposing to rename Pennsylvania Ave. as a protest for voting rights. GM sort of proposed that idea a long time ago…

Good morning Georgetown, here’s the latest:

  • Post reports on Hardy again. It’s another article heavy on the “some say” phrase, which enables just about whatever speculation you want, or more specifically, what speculation the people who are feeding the article to Bill Turque want. Interesting stats on enrollment though.
  • That’s about it today. Maybe it’s the pre-holiday quiet…

Good morning Georgetown, here’s the latest:

  • Hardy School continues to be a flashpoint over school reform in the District. Surprisingly, Vince Gray was willing to weigh in on the topic at last week’s Q&A Cafe and appeared to be hinting that he’d return Pope to Hardy.
  • GM missed this last week, but the Current reported that it appears that Vornado is taking over control of the mall. The article stated that ownership is now free and clear, but for what it’s worth, EastBanc’s lawsuit for ownership of the mall appears to be still active.
