Despite how overcast it’s been recently, yesterday turned out to be a great day to hang out at the pool. GM hopes you took advantage, because there’s only a couple more weeks left in the public pool season. But with your help, we can make it last a bit longer.
Georgetown’s two public pools, Volta Park pool and Jelleff pool, are scheduled to close for the season August 25th. August 26th is the first day of public school, so that is the traditional time the pools close, despite the fact that it’s still pool weather.h
However, a handful of pools are kept open one more weekend. In the past, one or both of Georgetown’s pools have been added to that list after it’s been announced. And once again some residents are hoping that Volta and/or Jelleff can once again remain open through Labor Day weekend.
So if you want to squeeze a few more hours out of what has turned out the be the most pleasant DC summer we’ve seen in a long time, email Jack Evans (jackevans@dccouncil.us) and ask him to keep them open.
