Tonight Georgetown’s newest music venue opens: Gypsy Sally’s. It is located on the second floor of the old ice house that now contains the equally new Malmaison.
Conceived as a Americana roots version of Blues Alley, Gypsy Sally’s is a welcome concept. And its a concept that used to typify Georgetown, back when the Cellar Door, Desperado’s and the Bayou (which once stood just down the street from where Gypsy Sally’s now is).
The venue opens tonight with a performance by Jim Lauderdale. The calendar of future gigs is already filling up. Considering that they’re giving the venue the tagline “Where the Music Never Stops” they better keep a full calender!
GM will be there tonight, so come on down and say hi, and check out Georgetown’s newest venue.

I hope opening night was fun. I just saw Jim Lauderdale play two nights ago (Wednesday night) in Nashville, so it was crazy to see that he was opening Gypsy Sally’s last night.
