- Yesterday, the Current reported on the old Georgetown Theater and confirmed that the old facade, shown here, is long gone. GM gets a kick out of the way the Current obliquely refers to the Georgetown Metropolitan as “some online discussions”. From now on, GM will call the Current “some hard copy discussions”.

- Like most of DC, Georgetown seems to have escaped the earthquake relatively unscathed. GM had a glass vase smash on his kitchen counter top. What did you have to clean up?
- DC trying to throw out lawsuit by photographer who was challenged by the cops because he took pictures of them while they were giving a ticket in Georgetown.

- In a move many anticipated, police arrest Violet Drath’s husband for her murder.
- Fight brewing on ANC redistricting council. Non-students want to expand the ANC to 8 and give two commissioners to the campus (in a proposal close to GM’s). The students on the panel want three commissioners, which seems a bit greedy to GM, but that plan’s numbers are a lot closer to the statutory requirements.
- New chef at 1789.

- The death of a Georgetowner who was found dead in her home on Friday is now being characterized by MPD as a homicide. Viola Drath was 91 and lived on Q St. just west of 32nd. Very few details are public as of now. What is morbidly coincidental about this tragedy is that it occurred just feet from the last homicide in Georgetown.
- In much less depressing news: GM’s not crazy enough to do this, but people seem to like this boot camp.
