The State of Georgetown 2012: Openings and Closings

It’s that time of year again when GM goes around counting up all the stores in Georgetown and determining what closed, what opened, and what’s still around. While GM is still doing some slicing and dicing to give you a full picture of the scene, today he’s going to simply list all the stores that closed and all the stores that opened between now and 12 months ago.

These were all stores and restaurants that I never was in – not even once. So I can’t say I will miss them. You didn’t mention Barnes & Noble (that I will miss).

Woops, when I first read this, it did not show the full list, hence my remark about B&N. My emailed list was incomplete. Sorry

    No Pink Berry?

  4. Topher

    Pinkberry is there.

  5. Helena L

Rooms with a View, paper/card shop next to Magic Wardrobe.

Scandinavian Antiques and Living (on P, next to Fleurir) closed this fall. And Georgetown Candy Bar in the past month. Comfort One shoes re-opened on Wisconsin.

  7. Big Planet Comics moved to 1520 U Street NW.

  8. A few more openings in calendar year 2011…CB2 and Lou Lou (accessories store on Wisconsin Avenue next to Papyrus) opened in April; Crackle Bar opened in January; The Best Sandwich Place (Washington Harbour next to Bangkok Joe’s) opened over the summer. Thanks!

P Street Pictures closed this year too, no?

Hi, I live in Sweden but stayed in DC in the late seventies. I wonder if anyone knows anything about the store Bridges of Georgetown?
