New Georgetown Yoga Studio Opens

A new yoga studio has opened in Georgetown, toponymously named Georgetown Yoga. It’s located on P St. and 26th, right next to Jean Pierre Antiques.

This is a local production. It was opened by Eli Hengst, a longtime Poplar St. resident. This isn’t the first Georgetown commercial foray for Hengst; he used to own Mendocino Grill.*

Of particular interest to the GM household, Georgetown Yoga will offer programs for toddlers and babies. This will be popular with Mrs. GM and Little GM, who now trek all the way up to Little Omm in Tenleytown for their baby yoga needs.

Normal adult classes are already being offered. Check out their schedule.

*When GM was a child and his family visited D.C. in the mid 80s, they always did two things: stay at Hotel Harrington and eat pizza at Geppetto’s (which was in the space previously occupied by Mendocino, which why GM is taking this opportunity to stroll down memory lane). Maybe it was because it was the first Chicago-style deep dish pizza he ever had, but Geppetto’s has stuck in GM’s mind as the best pizza he ever had.

Skip ahead twenty some odd years to last weekend, when GM finally visited the other branch of Geppetto’s that has been open in Bethesda since 1985. Did the real thing live up to GM’s memories? Not quite, but what childhood memory can really be lived up to? Well, come to think of it, the Hotel Harrington is exactly the same.)
