As covered by WAMU the other day, blogger Nathan Shivar has compiled some Google auto-complete results for various cities. What that means is that because Google attempts to complete your entry with the most popular permutations, you can see what others have searched for. It’s a neat way to find out what people think about a topic.
Thus, Shivar’s website found that when you type “Why is Washington”, a lot of people finished that question with “Dangerous”, “Humid”, and “Expensive”.
GM decided to try it for Georgetown. You can see the results above.
Most of the results seem to relate to our Georgetown (as opposed to, say, Georgetown Texas). Specifically, it appears that a lot of people have questions about Georgetown University.
These results surprised GM a little. He expected to see at least some say “so lame”, “so difficult to park in”, or “not on the Metro”. Guess to the wider world, Georgetown is a school first.
