Good morning Georgetown, here’s the latest:
- Adidas store to convert into a Reebok store, add a gym.
- GU students don’t like the idea of a satellite dorm, which is kinda tough because the school has already committed to acquiring one in the campus plan.

That’s not quite right – the Campus Plan says that the University has to find 450 beds either on-campus or outside of 20007. It does not commit the school to acquiring a satellite dorm. In fact, there is no mention of a “satellite dorm” in the Plan at all.
It would be difficult, but not impossible, to add 450 beds on-campus by Fall 2015. The University is choosing not to go that route.
Neither of you are exactly right. The Campus Plan commits the University to establishing a satellite campus for SCS (which is now done). It also commits the university to identifying the next “100 acres” for major development (St. Elizabeth’s or Reservation 13, for example).
It does not, however, commit the university to housing undergraduates outside of 20007. As dsz2 notes, finding the beds needed on-campus is doable, albeit difficult with the 2015 deadline in place. An extension of even a year or two would go a long way, but it does not appear as though one will be requested.
Which part of what I said was not exactly right? I didn’t say anything about the SCS satellite campus (which has no residential space in it) or about the completely-undefined next 100 acres, which is not categorized anywhere as necessarily having housing.
