Well DC only took a small part of GM’s advice on Election Day (yay Elissa Silverman!) but how did Georgetown vote?
Mayor: David Catania
The city didn’t agree with GM, but Georgetown did. It went for Catania 53% versus 36% for Bowser (which is almost the exact reverse of how the citywide results stacked up). Carol Schwartz picked up 6%.
At Large Councilmember: Anita Bonds and Elissa Silverman
Hey, Georgetown agreed with GM here too! Bonds, the only (identified) Democrat took 17% of Georgetown’s vote, but Silverman rode that GM bump to 14% of the vote. The next closest vote getter was Marc Morgan, the Republican, with 10%, because yeah, we’ve got just about the only Republicans in the city living here.
Attorney General: Karl Racine
Georgetown backed the citywide winner in this race with 34% of its vote. Lorie Masters and Paul Zuckerberg trailed with 19% each.
Pot Legalization: Yes
Georgetown was reportedly theĀ location of DC’s first pot party. So it’s no surprise the neighborhood came out in support of the dankest bud, with 59% of the vote.
ANC 2E07: Monica Roche
In the first competitive ANC race GM has seen in at least ten years, Monica Roche beat Ellie Budic, 53% to 26%. As a fifth generation Georgetowner, and a member of one of the last remaining black families from a once thriving Georgetown population, Monica will bring an unmatched knowledge base to the ANC. She is an assistant principal in Alexandria and will thus bring an educators eye. She is a great addition to the commission.
