On Wednesday night representatives of the Levy Group and their investment partners, as well as architects David Adjaye and Laura Olin, presented new proposals for the West Heating Plant property. As GM predicted, one of their preferred options includes taking down the building completely.
The photo above shows their first option, which is a slight modification on their original proposal.
But the bigger news was the proposal for what they’d build starting from scratch:

That’s a lot of glass. Which has the potential to turn the building into a giant light cube.
Unfortunately GM couldn’t make it to the meeting, but here are several good write-ups.
None of this changes the question of whether they’ll be able to tear the building down (partially or fully). And that decision is still to come, although one of the predicates to tearing it down is that it will be replaced by a building of special merit. Like it or not, whatever Adjaye comes up with will likely qualify for that.
