More Flooding Coming

Even before the hurricane hits, the Potomac at Georgetown could see some moderate flooding. NOAA predicts that at the Georgetown waterfront, the water level will peak during tomorrow night’s high tide (a little after 8:00 pm). The expected level is just over 9 feet.

That’s below the levels the river hit back in May. So don’t expect any dramatic flooding. But with a potentially historic hurricane following right after this swell recedes, there is potential for some far more serious flooding by this weekend.

Either way, the river is going to be awfully tricky for the next week or so, and you should probably avoid any boating, if that’s a thing you might otherwise do…
