Muggers Strike Georgetown

Helen Darling, Block Captain Coordinator of CAG’s Public Safety Committee, sent out word yesterday about a recent wave of muggings in and around Georgetown, all probably perpetrated by the same few individuals. Most recently, there was a mugging Friday night at the corner of O and 28th and 9:45 PM (which VP is reporting involved two female grad students). Full alert from MPD after the jump:

SUBJECT: CRIME ALERT: Robberies in the Northwest Area of DC

A representative from the Metropolitan Police Department contacted the
GW Police

Department at approximately 3:20 PM to report that MPD is looking for 2 Robbery

subjects who could be in the GW area that are responsible for several Robberies

in the city. MPD reported that the last robbery occurred in the area of 2900

block of 45th Street, NW at 2:07 PM

today.

Subject #1 Description:

Black male

dark complexion

5’9″-5’11”

approximately 200lbs

heavy built

20-30 yrs old

black cap

Subject #2 Description:

Black or Hispanic male

medium complexion

Dark Gray Jacket

Baggie jeans (light in color)

Black hat

5’9″ to 5’10”

30-40 years old

The 2 male subjects are driving a black or dark colored F-150 pick-up with

tinted windows.

28th & O Streets, NW

C1 and C2 reports while walking in the 2800 block of O Street, NW,
they were approached by S1 – who struck C1 with a bag. S1 then
pushed C1 to the ground and snatched her purse. S1 then snatched
C2’s purse and fled westbound on O Street, NW.

S1 – black male wearing dark colored clothing.

1:51 am
3100 block O Street, NW

C1 and C2 reports while walking eastbound in the 3100 block of O
Street, NW, S1 ran up behind them and attempted to grab C1’s purse.
C1 resisted, at which time S1 punched C2 in the face, snatched her
purse and fled on foot eastbound on O Street, NW.

S1 was last seen getting into the back of a pick truck, which was
stopped at the intersection of 31st & O Street, NW.

S1 described as Black Male, 28 to 30 years of age wearing dark
clothing.

Assault with Intent to Rob
3:31 am
3700 block of Reservoir Road, NW

C1 reports while walking east bound at the above location, he was
approached by two white male subjects – 25 to 30 years of age. S1
demanded his wallet – C1 refused at which time S1 and S2 began
punching C1 about the body, then fled east bound on foot.

Robbery Snatch
3:35 am
1600 block New Hampshire Avenue, NW

C1 reports while walking south on New Hampshire Ave, NW, S1 ran up
behind her and grabbed her purse as she fell to the ground. C1
chased S1 to the corner of Corcoran and New Hampshire and observed
S1 get into a dark colored SUV on the passenger side.

In order to combat these serious crimes, numerous officers were
moved from other PSAs in order to increase coverage and visibility
in the areas that experienced the robberies. Most of the robberies
appear to involve the same subjects occupying a dark colored pick-up
truck. Anyone observing the occupants of a truck matching this
description acting suspiciously is asked to immediately call 911.*
