The Morning Metropolitan

Good morning Georgetown, here’s the latest:

  • Georgetown-based 80’s flick St. Elmo’s Fire to be remade as a television show.
  • The new group “West Village People” will meet Sept. 10 and 6:30 pm. WVP describes itself as “informal group of permanent neighbors that work together in hopes of improving quality of life issues in our neighborhood.” GM guesses that the word “permanent” can be read as “non-student”.
  • Filomena comes in second in poll for best Italian restaurants in DC.

  1. the ‘west village people’? really? i mean, isn’t the first thing that comes to your mind a bunch of guys in costumes singing “macho man,” “ymca,” and “in the navy”?

Yeah, it wouldn’t have been my choice. But I guess getting woken up by drunk students at 3 AM will make you do some silly things sometimes…

  3. Work Nearby

GM – random Monday morning question – there has been police activity for three days on 30th Street between M St and K St – looks like more than just construction. Any ideas as to what is going on?

  4. GM

Not sure. I know they’re shutting down 30th st. for months to rebuild that bridge from scratch, so maybe it’s part of that effort.
