Off to the Beach

GM is off to the beach today. But have no fear, there will still be plenty of good stuff here next week. GM will drag himself away to write up the Morning Metropolitan each day and there’ll be a fresh Georgetown Metropolis each afternoon. In between: reruns! Yup, GM will bring back his highly acclaimed (in his head) architecture in Georgetown series. Enjoy!

  1. And just think, when you get back to Georgetown, the GU students will have arrived, bringing joy to the neighborhood! And the residents of Burleith and Hillendale will rejoice with barbeques and outdoor parties! And the Third Edition will have reopened just in time to celebrate! And the lines at the cupcake factory will be even longer (don’t eat too many you young coeds, you’ll get chubby in no time). As Buck Barrow said to Clyde: “Ain’t life grand!”

Dave you forgot the part where the lives of East Villagers go on undisturbed, blissfuly unaware that there’s a university within their neighborhood.

  3. Oh yeah! We’ll see about that! Party down on the East side! Free beer!

It pains me greatly when I feel compelled to correct GM, but let the record be clear: there is not one, but two university campuses located in my SMD east of Wisconsin Avenue.

You will recall that the campus plan for Dumbarton Oaks received approval from the ANC at its most recent public meeting.

And Dave, “free beer?” These are HARVARD institutions. Champagne and single-malt scotch would be a better guess 🙂
