The Morning Metropolitan

Georgetown Market window by Alykat.

Good morning Georgetown, here’s the latest:

  • Two Georgetown patios make it into Metrocurean’s Five Great Hidden Patios.
  • The new Circulator route is up and running, have you tried it yet? GM didn’t realize that they changed up the old route too. Now when it comes into Georgetown, it will come along K St. and up Wisconsin. Eastbound it stays on M St. This is a confusing and frustrating change. Moreover, there wasn’t any prior announcement made about this change (and it wasn’t like the Blue Bus change was that well communicated either). GM wasn’t even positive about the route so he checked the Circulator website last night. It wasn’t working. Unfortunately, poor communication appears to go hand-in-hand with the Circulator.

    re: Circulator

There was plenty of advance announcement in the Post, on the radio and TV and on many news sites all last week.

Last Friday there was a big news conference in Georgetown with Mayor Fenty, Chairman Fisette, Congresswoman Norton, and Council Member Jack Evans to announce the new Circulaor routes.

Sorry you weren’t invited. Please check with the Georgetown BIB for future events.

Last Friday? That is a lot of notice for the rest of humanity. Believe it or not, people other that Mayors, Chairmans, Congresswomans and Council Members use Circulator and depend on it.

Valerie, I don’t argue that there wasn’t unofficial notice of the change coming. Hell, I was probably the first one to report the date of the change months ago. What I am complaining about is the lack of much official notice before the change. Waiting until the day before the change to officially announce it is not sufficient. Sure I knew it was coming, but if you were to go on the Circulator website two weeks ago you’d have no clue anything was about to change.

More troubling was that the change to the old route had ZERO prior notice. None. Zilch. Not one report, official or non-official, reported this change until the official press release last Friday. In my book that is bad communications.

and neither the mobile site has any information on the new line and route changes, and the main site isn’t even up.

    Bring Back the Blue Bus!

Cummon dudes, you expect the Fenty Administration to do anything other than have a press conference to take credit for this change?

The K and Wisconsin route has always been slow and congested; I had assumed that was why the GWU/Foggy Bottom Blue Bus had been folded into the Circulator. To now run a Circulator Bus on that route appears foolish.
