GM came across this scene yesterday on 34th, just south of M. For those familiar with finer 1960s films, they might recognize the plot point an object like this played:

GM couldn’t tell if the assailant successfully stole the money in this meter (it really does look like it was targeted for theft, not simply knocked over by an errant car). But the thing is, this is a credit card meter. Sure, it still accepts coins, but GM doubts there was more than a small handful of change in there, given (A) meters cost a lot these days (B) people don’t normally walk around with that much change and (C) it’s much easier just to pay with a credit card.
Sadly, this petty theft will cost the city hundreds of dollars to replace the meter.
