What Georgetown Tastes Like This Year

Pie Chart of Restaurants

GM summarized his findings from his annual State of Georgetown survey yesterday, and today he’s focusing in on restaurants.

Above you can see a chart of the distribution of classifications of Georgetown food establishments. Sweets remains the king category in Georgetown. While we lost a couple last year when the two Ice Berry frozen yogurt shops closed, we gained a couple with Sweet Frog and Olivia Macaron. The generic “American” category not surprisingly leads the true restaurant group, with 15 establishments. French is the most prevalent ethnic cuisine in Georgetown, although Italian would lead if GM didn’t count pizza restaurants separately from Italian.

There were 136 restaurants in Georgetown as of February (we’ve already lost at least one from that number, Georgetown Dinette, which closed after the annual count.) This is a net gain of five restaurants over last year’s count of 131.
