Last week, the waterfront ice rink opened for the season. GM swung by Saturday for a spin, and it was already a hopping scene. That bodes well for the rink, which has been a resounding success since it first opened two years ago. The first year, the rink had 46,000 visitors. GM doesn’t have an update on how the rink did last year, but anecdotally it was as popular if not more so last year.
Adding to the experience this year is a fully complete outdoor patio by Tony & Joe’s, including cozy fire pits. For the fancy set, you can now repair Fiola Mare for your apres skate.
One thing that remains missing is a place to get a quick hot chocolate and snack to-go. If GM were the owner of the gellateria overlooking the rink, he’d buy a few heat lamps, and set up a hot cocoa and pretzel stand outside the shop. He’d make a mint.
Anyway, come on down!
