Appalachian Spring to Close

img_3035

Appalachian Spring, the longtime presence on Wisconsin Ave., will close later this year. A sign announces the availability of the building for lease. And GM has heard that the store chose not to renew the lease which will end in June.

The other three locations will remain open for the store. But it began in Georgetown in 1968, and this will mean the end of that connection. It will be sad to lose the shop and its whimsical window displays. Make sure to stop by a pick something up before they go!

  1. David and Polly Brooks will be sorely missed when they close their Georgetown location. They are the nicest shopowners we have had these past 5 decades. I remember when they opened their store, it was my first year at The Georgetowner newspaper. My wife and I always enjoyed stopping at Appalachian Spring to purchase gifts and items for our homes. David Brooks and Polly never hesitated to participate in Georgetown’s many festivities and promotions. David served as the Business Association’s president for a term or two. Appalachian Spring was a hallmark of Georgetown’s success over the past 50 years.
