GM is going to shamefully take the idea of Washingtonian writer, Jessica Sidman, who this week asked: If you could bring back from the dead any restaurant from DC’s history, what would you choose? GM would like to take a local spin on it and confine it to Georgetown. If you could bring back any now closed Georgetown restaurant, what would you choose?
There are so many excellent possibilities. Many still fondly remember Rive Gauche (above). Citronelle would also get a lot of support. GM never made it to Citronelle before it closed, and missed all the real old classics. But he would aim more modestly and bring back Furin’s (although his fond memories of Geppetto’s would make it a close second.)
What would you choose?
Au Pied de Cochon!! And Bistro Francais. And Nathans. All for the fun and history more than for the food 🙂
Cellar Door
Nathans. The Big Cheese. American Cafe.
Plus one on The Cellar Door!
Most missed: Furin’s and Citronelle, especially the bar and terrace. Nathans, of course, (but maybe not as owner), but the point is that location should have been designated as a neighborhood pub for always. Alas.
