Street Closures for Halloween Night

This Halloween a group of streets off of M St. will be closed to vehicular traffic. This is to discourage visitors from driving through the side streets, which will be full of kids trick or treating.

The city used to shut down most of the side streets, which made it much nicer on streets like P St. or Q St., which can be mobbed. But sadly they don’t do that any more. By blocking off basically all the “cut-through” routes from M, the current plan is more of a nudge than a hammer, and it probably has similarly modest results.

Here are the closures:

27th Street, NW from N Street South to Olive Street, NW

28th Street, NW from N Street South to Pennsylvania Ave, NW

29th Street, NW from N Street South to M Street, NW

30th Street, NW from N Street South to M Street, NW

31st Street, NW from N Street South to M Street, NW

Potomac Street from N Street South to M Street, NW
