It’s time for the monthly update for neighbors of Hyde Addison Elementary School! With roughly one month left of school before winter break, I’m reflecting on the wonderful fall both of my children have had at Hyde. My son adores his PK3 teacher and the fun he and his classmates have each day (though he still insists on picking out one Matchbox car to bring to school each day!). And almost every day now, my daughter the kindergartner is telling me new words she knows how to spell. She is also expanding her skills into the performing arts in “Keegan Theater,” one of Hyde’s after school extracurricular classes (in partnership with the real Keegan Theater in Dupont Circle).
PK3 and PK4 Lottery and Prospective Family Open Houses
Hyde has one PK3 class (16 students) and two PK4 classes (19 students in each class). Enrollment in both PK3 and PK4 is via the DCPS lottery. You can enter the lottery for the 2023/2024 school year starting on Monday December 12 at myschooldc.org (results will be posted on March 31, 2023).
Hyde Addison will be hosting four Prospective Family Open Houses this winter (two virtual, two in-person), with the first one scheduled for Thursday December 15 at 10am. Please RSVP at: bit.ly/haeopenhouses ; it will begin with a presentation, so plan to be on time!
Fundraising for Hyde’s PTA
Hyde’s PTA is selling popcorn for four days—today through Friday Dec. 2nd at noon. My “popup store” is here:

There are ten flavors to choose from, including my favorite, Easy Peasy Caramel Cheesy. The holidays are here and this popcorn makes a great gift. Even fits in a stocking… Prices start at $9/bag (ie a $4.50 donation to Hyde!) and shipping is convenient- ships directly to the buyer!
