Georgetown Time Machine

This week for Georgetown Time Machine, I’m dipping back into the 30 year old photos from 1993. I chose today’s in honor of the fact this building will be vacant soon with the departure of the Edible Arrangements.

This building is 1600 Wisconsin Ave. The building looks pretty much identical to how it appears today. But of course the tenant was different. In 1993 this property was a 7-11. That remained open until around 2008. The building itself dates to 1987.

Prior to that this was an empty lot used by a car dealer:

This shot is from 1973. As I explored last month, a photo from the 1950s seems to suggest a building at this address but the evidence was inconclusive.

In either event, the Edible Arrangements is still open in case you want to take advantage of your last chance to eat a basket full of fruit.
