Google Store Coming to M St.

A bricks-and-mortar Google store is coming to M St. My ANC colleague, Mimsy Lindner, reported at our meeting Monday night that the company is set to take over 3235 M St. (This has most recently housed the Aerie store.)

Hearing about a “Google store” made me first think about a physical store that you walk into to get search results (“How do I move to another country?” or “How do I induce a four year coma?” are two particularly timely Google search terms that come to mind…). But, no, the store is much more like an Apple store. It sells Google electronic devices.

Like with a lot of the new stores that have opened in Georgetown in recent years, this store is part of a small group of existing locations. So far there are just five across the country. But, also like those other new stores, it seems unlikely that the store will be that exclusive for very long. But for now, it’s a feather in Georgetown’s cap to be chosen this early in the expansion.
