Good morning Georgetown, here’s the latest:

  • Still no announcement of who won the bidding for the West Heating Plant. Not to start rumors, but GM was on the bus Friday and overheard two real estate developer-sounding guys and he swears they said JBG won, but GM could have easily misheard.
  • Follow-up on the Jack’s Boathouse situation.

Good morning Georgetown, here’s the latest:

  • On top of the Sweet Frog frozen yogurt place opening, there’s another chain frozen yogurt store now promising a Georgetown location. To paraphrase Disco Stu: did you know that for the year ending 2012 frozen yogurt profits were up 400%? If these trends continue…
  • Albrecht Muth is really going all out to fake his (alleged, but let’s face it, he sure seems like a fake) craziness.

Good morning Georgetown, here’s the latest:

  • One of the bidders won the West Heating Plant auction with a bid of $19.5. It’s not publicly known at this time who that bidder is, and whether the GSA will exercise its option to reject the final bid.
  • Speaking of the West Heating Plant, apparently the staff of the DC Office of Planning are not entire opposed to the winner basically knocking the whole thing down and building a new building just as high. The Old Georgetown Board, on the other hand, will probably not be so amenable.

Good morning Georgetown, here’s the latest:

  • Don’t wait for it to melt; shovel your sidewalks now! Those with mobility problems are dependent on you to do your neighborly duty.
  • Speaking of mobility, two new bikeshare stations were approved by the ANC.

Good morning Georgetown, here’s the latest:

  • NPS has awarded the Jack’s Boathouse concession to a Massachusetts-based company called B&G Outdoor Recreation. The current owner of Jack’s, Paul Simkin, has called this move illegal and promises to fight it. On a side note, let GM say that he was totally wrong when he said that he believed that NPS was going to give the contract to Guest Services International. Maybe the pressure from local groups made a difference?
  • The Washington Harbour ice rink closed for the season yesterday. Let’s give MRP a round of applause for a great addition to the community!

Good morning Georgetown, here’s the latest:

  • Tudor Place’s Peter family owned the quarry that provided early DC with much of its sandstone.
  • Neighbor calls in an alert to DC to complain about the imminent arrival of TJ Maxx, Home Goods and Michaels. (It was a joke).
