  • Big news: the winner of the auction for the note on the Georgetown Park mall is planning on teaming with Herb Miller’s Western Development to “reposition” the property. That sound you hear is Anthony Lanier’s teeth grinding.

Good morning Georgetown, here’s the latest:

  • Georgetown Park mall note sold to Angelo, Gordon. Please “note” that holding the note doesn’t mean that Angelo, Gordon “owns” the mall. At least not yet. It just means that it is the holder of the loan on the property.  It’s unclear right now whether they can or would foreclose on the note.
  • PLEASE WATER YOUR STREET TREES! It hasn’t rained much in weeks, and the trees are really struggling, particularly the young ones.
  • Don’t forget to become a fan of the Georgetown Metropolitan!

Good morning Georgetown, here’s the latest:

  • Errata: GM reported over the last week that a vote was possible soon from the Council on the Hurt Home surplussing. That was incorrect. The meeting last week was a roundtable discussion and it was adjourned until July 1. Before the Council can vote on the surplus recommendation it has to be voted out of the committee, which hasn’t happened yet. More explanation here.
  • Georgetowner’s love of Georgetown not contingent on clear vistas.

  • Really cool then-and-now piece on Sarah’s Market.
  • The Current reported that the deal between the Corcoran and EastBanc to sell the Fillmore School was canceled over a disagreement on timing. Presumably this will delay any possible sale, which would seem to be a larger timing issue, but what does GM know.

  • Trees for Georgetown is reminding people to water your street trees! If you think you’re uncomfortable, imagine how they feel.
  • Some confusion over the Council’s Hurt Home round table this week: GM was told it was going to be Wednesday, but it looks like it was actually supposed to be Monday, but in fact it looks like the Monday meeting was postponed. More info when it becomes available.
