Spite House that Probably is not Really a Spite House is For Sale, Again

The house at 1239 30th St. is for sale again. That’s not a particularly notable fact, except for the fact that it is one of Georgetown’s narrowest houses. And it only just sold in 2015.

The home is actually quite lovely, and even has an elevator in it.

Georgetown Cupcakes Without the Wait (Sort of)

img_0054

Do you want Georgetown Cupcakes, but don’t want to wait on line like some sucker tourist? You’re in luck! Now you can buy authentic Georgetown Cupcake mixes from Williams-Sonoma.

Each mix cost $15 bucks and can make 12. That works out to be $1.25 a cupcake, which is less than half the price from the store. But there’s a pretty huge catch.

The mixes don’t come with milk, eggs or butter. That’s not terribly surprising. But they also don’t come with any frosting. The cream-cheese saturated frostings are some of the primary appeals of Georgetown Cupcake’s cupcakes. You could try to replicate it, but you can bet they won’t look at pretty as that photo above. Good morning Georgetown, here’s the latest:

  • Signature (which looks waaaaay better at its new location on Wisconsin above Q) over bought on inaugural gowns by 100%.
  • Two people struck by a driver on R St. at 32nd yesterday. They were transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. This is a stretch that suffers from many drivers speeding to get around M St. traffic. DDOT conducted a study that concluded that speed cameras were necessary, but they never installed them.

New ANC Meets Next Week

The new ANC meets next Monday at Visitation at 6:30 pm. The operative word here is “new”. This is the first meeting with the newly elected Commissioners, and all but three of the Commissioners were elected for the first time in November. Ed Solomon is the only Commissioner who has served more than one term (he’s on his seventh term). So it will be enjoyable to attend this meeting simply out of curiosity to see whether the new make up of the Commission will change the general tone or M.O. We’ll see.

As for the agenda itself, there is nothing that jumps out at GM as particularly noteworthy. Apparently some store called Kendra Scott is moving into the space formerly occupied by Ugg on Wisconsin above Prospect St. It’s a jewelry chain based out of Austin. Continue reading
