Recently a flotilla of barges appeared at the foot of the Key Bridge. They are there to assist in the rehabilitation of the bridge, which is just now kicking off. But what is being done for the project?
Most of the tasks are maintenance-oriented. According to a flyer produced by the BID they include:
At some point, GM heard they were considering painting the bridge, but it doesn’t seem that that will be included. Also not (apparently) in the plans is the idea to install programmable lights that could turn the bridge into DC’s own light show stage (a la the Empire State Building).
If you want to learn more about the construction, and how it might affect your use of the bridge, keep your eyes out for an upcoming meeting from CAG on the topic.
