ANC Preview: Lets Get Together
The ANC will meet for its October session next Monday night at 6:30 at Visitation. There’s nothing particularly eye catching in the agenda, but there is one item worth mentioning.
Throughout Georgetown there are a handful of “Friends of” groups, including Friends of Rose Park, Friends of Montrose Park, Friends of Volta Park (disclosure, GM is on the board of that one), Friends of the Georgetown Waterfront Park, and so on. An effort led by ANC Commissioner Joe Gibbons is underway to get these groups together in a an informal way to coordinate efforts and share best practices. Each park has its own challenges and advantages, so sharing knowledge across groups should aid all of them. Continue reading

But DDOT has never really changed its position on the Wisconsin Ave. leg. And it hasn’t with this most recent backtracking. It still doesn’t think the ridership up Wisconsin Ave. justifies the route. But it knows when to give in to political pressure. Continue reading

Cycling Fashion Store Coming to M St.
According to a reliable tip, a new bicycling clothing store is coming to 3025 M St. (which formerly held the American Apparel store). The store, Rapha, specializes in clothing and accessories for road bicyclists (i.e. bibs, biker shorts, cold and wet weather gear, etc.)
The London-based company has only a handful of American stores so far. So DC is somewhat lucky to be added, although the bicycling scene here certainly justifies it. Continue reading
