L.A. Burdick Chocolate Shop Looking Pretty Swell

After a long wait, the L.A. Burdick Chocolate shop is finally open at 1319 Wisconsin Ave. And it’s a really swell looking place.

The warmly decorated shop breaks up the deep and narrow space into a couple different areas. Chocolates dominate the front section, with luxurious looking treats both sold separately and in prepackaged boxes. Wingo’s Still Plans a Georgetown Return

Longtime burger and wing shop Wingo’s shut down in June 2018 after a severe fire. Owner Mike Arthur vowed to reopen the shop shortly afterwards.

But in the meantime, Arthur opened a second Wingo’s location in Glover Park, which is doing gangbusters. And the Georgetown location has sat with no obvious work being done. The combination of those two facts got GM wondering if Arthur still intended to reopen the Georgetown shop. And wing-lovers will be happy to hear that he does in fact still plan to reopen. He just got a permit for the roof work and will turn to the interior after. He says if thing go well, they’ll be open by July 1st (coincidentally GM’s birthday).

So just a couple more months, wing-lovers.

Good morning Georgetown, here’s the latest:

  • Patient Zero for the novel coronavirus in DC is Rev. Tim Cole of Christ Church. He is recovering, but hundreds of parishioners may have been exposed. So, uhh, keep washing you hands.
  • How bout some good news? Dumbarton Oaks Gardens is still free through Saturday! Should be able to catch the saucer magnolias and the plum trees.

Good morning Georgetown, here’s the latest:

  • Cafe Bonaparte shuffle’s chefs again.
  • Signatures are due to the Board of Elections today to appear on the Ward 2 ballot for the primary. So we should have an idea shortly who will actually appear on the ballot. Fingers crossed one of them’s not Jack Evans.
  • (GM’s going to be out of town for the next couple days and updates will pick up again next week!)
