Dumbarton Oaks in the Fall
As a reminder, GM is reprinting his article from last year extolling the virtues of Dumbarton Oaks in the fall:
Dumbarton Oaks is well known for its spring displays of incredible seasonal bounties. But people often overlook how spectacular the acres of gardens are in the fall. Hurry up and catch it now before it’s gone.
But here’s just a taste. The wildflowers of the Herbaceous Border are breathtaking:
The rest of the garden is at that magical moment when the gardeners loosen their grips and the plants give off one more explosion before the winter:

Volta Park Day Postponed!
Due to the rain, Volta Park Day, which was scheduled for this Sunday, has been postponed. GM will report on the new date once that gets confirmed.

Old Georgetown in Color: Gridiron
This week on Old Georgetown in Color, GM returns to Hoya sports. And that craggy granite cliff of a face above belongs to Gus Malley who in 1919 played fullback for the Hoyas. He was just a freshman. He apparently was from Dorchester Mass and went to high school at the prestigious Boston Latin school. When he returned to his home city to play Boston College in 1921, the school’s newspaper admired that “Malley’s line plunging featured Georgetown’s playing in that great 10 to 7 game two years ago.”
