Good morning Georgetown, here’s the latest:
- Dolley Madison family day tomorrow 10 to 2 at Dumbarton House. Come celebrate Dolley’s escape from the White House (Dumbarton House was her first stop) with games and cake.
- After celebrating the War of 1812, come over and let the National Parks Service tell you about Georgetown during the Civil War. It’s at 12:15 at the C & O Canal at Thomas Jefferson St.
- A resident suggested to the Georgetown listserv that DDOT install speed bumps next to Montrose Park. GM thinks people speed too much there (which is to say they speed at all), but that other traffic calming measures are more effective (such as resurfacing the road with something rougher than asphalt). What do you think?

Good morning Georgetown, here’s the latest:
- The Post writes a fascinating story about a Georgetown family that is descended from a slave that worked in the Madison White House.
- Johnny Rockets is applying for a liquor license. What type of drink fits their faux-fifties stylings? Spiked root-beer float? Actually, that sounds pretty good…
- Vox Populi starts its Junior Year. Will it spend the next two semesters on a debaucherous trip through Europe?

Good morning Georgetown, here’s the latest:
- DDOT planning to refurbish O and P streets (where the streetcar tracks are) next year. Will that mean a decision on the tracks?
- Staying on the transportation theme: 30th St. bridge over the canal closes today for reconstruction. It’ll be closed for roughly one year.

Good morning Georgetown, here’s the latest:
- Georgetown-based 80’s flick St. Elmo’s Fire to be remade as a television show.
- The new group “West Village People” will meet Sept. 10 and 6:30 pm. WVP describes itself as “informal group of permanent neighbors that work together in hopes of improving quality of life issues in our neighborhood.” GM guesses that the word “permanent” can be read as “non-student”.
- Filomena comes in second in poll for best Italian restaurants in DC.
