After a string of terrible scenes plaguing Wisconsin Ave., it’s nice to be pleasantly surprised. Yesterday morning GM stumbled upon this wild turkey sauntering up Wisconsin Ave. It crossed the street at the foot of Book Hill and headed further north from there. GM hopes it made its way to Rock Creek.
Last week GU re-instituted an indoor mask mandate in response to a spike in Covid cases. And yesterday, the school announced 169 positive cases on campus, the most since early February. And more alarming, the school reporting a sharp uptick in positivity rates for the tests:
Should we look at GU (and other DC college campuses) as the canary in the coal mine of yet another surge of cases?
Not Georgetown news, but something GM unfortunately discovered too late yesterday: Ft. Totten dump is closed for six months. You have to go to a different site (that is not open as much) in the meantime.
If you’re looking to look shave off some years from your face on the way home from Safeway, your opportunity is nigh. A storefront botox clinic is coming to the Wisconsin Ave. building.
The company is called Skin Spirit and it has locations across the US. It offers a variety of ways to artificially delay your inevitable descent into old age. If pumping your face with botulism doesn’t appeal to you, they’ll also flash your face with lasers and/or inject it with acid. And they’ll do whatever this is to your arm:
The clinic is supposed to open sometime this spring. Try to keep the wrinkles at bay in the meantime.
Another day, another driver causing mayhem on the streets of Georgetown. And once again the only thing keeping this from being fatal is the dumb luck of there being no pedestrian simply standing on the sidewalk at the wrong time.
This crash occurred yesterday morning at the intersection of Wisconsin Ave. and R St. It’s unclear to GM what specifically occurred but it appears the driver of the light gray car smashed it into the dark gray BMW. The collision had enough force and momentum to send the BMW careening onto the sidewalk.
No one appears to have been standing there at the time, but again, that’s just due to luck. GM himself was at that exact spot just minutes before. Surely dozens of families walked through here to school during the same time period.
