The Georgetowner newspaper published an interesting article this week on the rise of young families in Georgetown. One facet the article touches on, but doesn’t really dive into, is the question of just how many kids there are, and how has it changed recently.
The Census Bureau can put some more meat on the bones. GM looked at the population numbers for Georgetown for 2000, 2010 and 2015. (In this case, Georgetown is Census Tracts 1.00 and 2.02, which is Georgetown minus the Georgetown University campus). Continue reading

GM found this video tour of some of Georgetown’s famed sneaker shops (you probably want to skip the last two minutes). If you’re like GM, you don’t know too much about this style, but these are seriously popular stores! Hence the occasionally long lines outside. GM thinks it’s great that they’re are quality shops like these still in the neighborhood that appeal to a wider demographic than the typical clothing shops we’ve got on M St.
But holy crap, were those sneakers at the 5:30 mark really over $1,000?! Damn.
