The photo comes from February 16, 1932, and shows the inside of the quite fantastic reservoir that once stood at the corner of R St. and Wisconsin. The photo accompanied a short article on the imminent demise of the structure:

• All students living on campus at GU have been given permission to live there next semester too.
• Speaking of GU, it seems they’ve got a bad year on the basketball court incoming.

Please remember to vote for the ANC position!

It’s very easy to miss this race when filling out a paper ballot, either for your mail-in ballot or in-person. That’s because it’s on the back, after most of the more, shall we say, important elections. So please remember to turn the ballot over!

I’ve been joking recently that win or lose, I just wanted to get more votes than Trump does from my SMD. It sounds easy enough, but actually with the large number of people that simply don’t vote for ANC, it’s actually not a sure thing. So please! Help me beat Trump!!

Good morning Georgetown, here’s the latest:

• In person early voting started yesterday, and GM successfully got in and out in less than ten minutes at Hardy School! Today’s a great day to vote if you haven’t already. (Vote Mathews while you’re there!)
• Carjacking on O St., but quick work by MPD led to an arrest!

Montrose Park

ANC 2E will be meeting for its November session next Monday night at 6:30. You can watch by Zoom link here.

There are no obviously bombshell matters on the agenda for this month. Although a couple merit a note.

The community comment agenda is fairly thick, with topics ranging from an update from CM Pinto’s office to discussions of school overcrowding. But a topic near and dear to GM is western Volta Park. There is a naescent effort to reimagine this portion of the park, lead by Commissioner Joe Gibbons, the Friends of Volta Park and DC DPR. It’s early going, but the parties are considering if there are better design options, including possibly adding some hardscaping. If you’ve got any ideas, chime in on Monday!

Another item on the agenda is a project led by the BID to reconstruct a stairway from the canal down to the western end of Water St. Right now there is a stairway there, but it’s pretty beat up and not terribly attractive to use.
