New Bikeshare Station at Potomac and M St.

There’s a new Capital Bikeshare station in Georgetown. This one is at Potomac and M St., right outside of Luke’s Lobsters.

GM predicts that this will quickly become a popular station, as it will be the most western stop in “downtown DC” and should attract a lot of people looking for a bike trip to or from the Rosslyn Metro. Continue reading

Mt. Zion Cemetery Gets Some TLC

A group of neighbors, elected officials, church members and Georgetown Visitation students gathered at the historic Mt. Zion Cemetery off 26th St. last Saturday to give it some much needed TLC.

Over three trucks’ worth of debris was removed from the cemetery. While serious structural and restoration issues remain, this maintenance is critical to preventing the cemetery from disappearing completely into the forest.

The Mt. Zion cemetery (and its sister the Female Union Band cemetery) are invaluable historical remnants of Georgetown’s history and it is incumbent upon the entire community to preserve them as much (and more) to preserve them as much as the grand estates like Everymay or Tudor Place. Easter in Georgetown

If you’re like GM, you can only seem to get to church twice a year: Easter and Christmas. As such, you might not know what sort of options you have for that semi-annual visit. GM’s here to help you out. The who, what, where and when of Easter weekend in Georgetown:

Georgetown Presbyterian:

  • Easter Services: 9:30 & 11:15 AM
  • Easter Egg Hunt: 10:40

Trinity Catholic:

  • Easter: 7:30 AM, 9:30 AM,  & 1:15 PM

Christ Church Georgetown (Episcopal):

  • Easter: Holy Eucharist at 8:00 AM, 9:00 AM and 11:15 AM, Choral Evensong at 5:00 PM
