Update: Actually it is the law now. Due to some legislative mechanics, it may have appeared that the bill died, but it was in fact adopted last Fall under Bill B20-70.

Several weeks ago, GM reported on a new DC law that might impact the conversion of Georgetown gas stations to condos. Turns out that despite the Post reporting the law as passed, Washcycle astutely points out that the law wasn’t actually passed. It was introduced as a bill but died without a vote.
However, the bill was reintroduced this year, so it may still become law. Washcycle speculates that in fact the Georgetown gas stations were the impetus for the bill asserting that since Councilmember Jack Evans doesn’t want the Exxon at Q St. to close he proposed it. Continue reading

This Friday, in commemoration of the 70th anniversary of VE Day a major fleet of historic WWII planes will perform a flyby of DC and Georgetown will get a front row seat.
At approximately noon, the planes will fly down the Potomac River right by Georgetown. They will follow the river to the Lincoln Memorial at which point they will head out over the mall. After passing by the WWII Memorial and the Capitol, they will head back out over the river. Continue reading

Hey, do you want to have some drinks in an awesome setting, win some cool prizes, and do some good? Of course you do! So come on out next Tuesday to the Graham Hotel roof for the annual fundraiser of GM’s daughter’s school: Georgetown’s Children’s House of Washington.
The funds are being raised for scholarships to the school. And to do so, there will be auctions of a wide range of items, including a whole bunch of wine and food.
It should be a fun time for a good cause and a great school, so come on out and tip back a few with GM! Buy your tickets here.
