GM’s heading off to Austin for Spring Break for the rest of the week. Catch up with you after Easter!

Georgetown University

If you’re like GM, you can only seem to get to church twice a year: Easter and Christmas. As such, you might not know what sort of options you have for that semi-annual visit. GM’s here to help you out. The who, what, where and when of Easter weekend in Georgetown:

Georgetown Presbyterian:

• Good Friday Ecumenical Service at Mt. Zion United Methodist Church – 12 pm -1 pm
• Easter Services: 9:30 & 11:00 AM
• Easter Egg Celebration: 10:45

Trinity Catholic:

• Good Friday Ecumenical Service at Mt. Zion United Methodist Church – 12 pm -1 pm
• Easter: 7:30 AM, 9:30 AM, 11:30 AM & 1:15 PM

Christ Church Georgetown (Episcopal):

• Easter: Holy Eucharist at 8:00 AM, 9:00 AM, 11:15 AM, and 6:00 PM; Choral Evensong at 5:00 PM

Dumbarton Methodist

Good morning Georgetown, here’s the latest:

• 3030 M St. (where Cusp is) changes hands (also, apparently the lease for Cusp expires early next year and it sounds like the new owner expects to fill the space with a new tenant.)

Dumbarton Oaks Park

Good morning Georgetown, here’s the latest:

• To be fair: The Union Station to Georgetown Circulator does technically end in Glover Park, but only just.
• Josh Hermias, who was once the Economic Development head of the BID, just left the job he had after that: head chef at Minibar. Open a restaurant in Georgetown Josh!

1500 block of Wisconsin Ave.

Normally “snowfall” in a Georgetown spring means lying underneath the cherry trees in Dumbarton Oaks as the blossoms cascade down. But yesterday brought genuine snow to spring. And the neighborhood is quite lovely in white.

In his venture around with his camera, GM was struck by one big difference in Dumbarton Oaks Park (the best place to enjoy snow in Georgetown). In 2005, he took this photo of the stone bridge:

Yesterday, standing in the same spot, this is the photo that resulted:

In other words, a lot of vegetation has grown along the brookside in twelve years. GM’s glad he got the shot he did when he could.
