Homes Still Being Put Up For Sale

Many businesses in Georgetown have ground to a halt. But the real estate business has not totally frozen, at least according to the listings.

In the past month, fifteen homes or apartments have been put up for sale in Georgetown. That is surely way down from a normal early spring market. But it’s not zero. And five of them are already under contract. There have been nine sales. Continue reading

What’s the Most Iconic Shot of Georgetown?

Yesterday, someone asked GM for help identifying an iconic image of Georgetown for a project they were working. They asked GM to look through his collection of photos of Georgetown to find his favorite shots, and perhaps that would help inspire their own selection. Somewhat lacking in article ideas these days, GM decided to answer with this!

A couple thoughts immediately jumped to mind. The truly most iconic images have somewhat been beaten to death:

  • Some supermarkets are making their aisles “one-way”. Sounds like an idea that would be great for Safeway.
  • Speaking of Safeway, GM did notice a security guard the other day turning away customers if they didn’t have a mask. Progress!

Get Ready to Vote by Mail

The DC Board of Elections is strongly encouraging voters to vote by mail for the upcoming elections. And these will be consequential elections for Georgetowners, so you should act now to ensure that you take advantage of this procedure.

There used to be a time when you needed an excuse to vote absentee. But DC has long joined many jurisdictions across the country in letting you vote by mail with no excuse. And now we all have a great excuse anyway! For the elections in June, DC will only be opening only 22 voting centers (normally it’s 144). So you will be well advised to use the mail option.   • In case you were wondering, despite the fire in the meat department Monday night, the Safeway was open yesterday (although had a bit of a smokey smell).
  • After being patient zero for DC, the Christ’s Church pastor gave a virtual Easter service.
