Georgetown’s Thought Journal
Walking through the Georgetown waterfront park, you may stumble on a bench that doesn’t look like any of the other ones. As you can see above, it’s wooden and has a circular back to it. But what really sets it apart is a little yellow book that stashed away underneath the bench:
It’s an all-weather journal that’s been attached to the bench. It, along with the bench, was put there by an organization called the TKF Foundation, which seeks to create sacred spaces. At these sacred places, they install a bench just like this one with a book and invite people to contribute their thoughts.

Serendipitous Plans

As reported all over the place, L2’s Rodrigo Garcia and Rhino’s Britt Swan have signed a deal to bring New York’s Serendipity 3 to the old Nathan’s location. For those not familiar with it, Serendipity 3 is an expensive ice cream parlor in the Upper East Side. Depending on whom you ask, it’s either a wonderful high-end restaurant or a total tourist trap.
But what specifically can we expect for Georgetown’s Serendipity 3? The NYC location offers a menu of various burgers and sandwiches, including also such odd choices as macarroni pizza and a $1,000 sundae.
But beside this basic outline, what will the Georgetown location actually look like? GM inquired with Garcia and Swan and received no comment, so he had to do a little digging on his own. Continue reading

Argument Over Dog in Montrose Park Leads to Arrest Warrant
In Montrose Park there exists a self-regulating society of dog walkers. Sit there for a little while, and you’ll see the society part: dozens of dog owners who all seem to know each other as “the owner of so-and-so.” Â Stay a little longer and chances are you’ll see the self-regulating part.
When a dog gets a little out of hand, the other dog owners are normally pretty quick with a harsh reprimand along the lines of “you need to control your damn dog!” It seems to work. Â But even the stern hand of peer pressure isn’t always enough.
And one of those times happened on February 11th. A neighbor was out in Montrose Park taking photographs of the snow when another neighbor’s dogs started threatening him (GM was told who their names, but couldn’t confirm it yet). He asked the other neighbor to control his dogs. Harsh words were exchanged and the dog owner ended up assaulting the photographer. Continue reading
