Fire at Georgetown Hospital?

Reader Kathleen reports to the Georgetown Metropolitan about a troubling scene this morning at Georgetown Hospital. She writes:

About 10 firetrucks and 6 ambulances, along with other emergency vehicles stormed into both hospital entrances at about 9:30 this morning. Some firemen looked to be leaving their vehicles on reservoir rd and running toward the hospital.

Scary stuff. Anyone see this or know more about it?

Suspects Arrested after Mugging Spree

As discussed the other day, there has been a rash of muggings in the greater Georgetown area recently. Happily, the Current is reporting that there has been an arrest made of two suspects. The arrests were made after a Howard University public safety officer reported the men “acting suspiciously”. Congratulations go to MPD for a great job quickly catching these guys.

However, it raises a question (but does not beg it!), how does one “act suspciously”? Were they cackling madly while twirling their mustache? Was there ominous music being played in the soundtrack? Were they wearing sunglasses at night? What makes someone “suspicious”?

Anyone Missing a Helicopter?

From the Georgetown listserv: resident James W. reports that an individual knocked on his front door recently asking to retrieve his remote controlled helicopter from James’ roof. James, being hip to the old I’m-sorry-my-remote-controlled-helicopter-is-on-your-roof scam told the individual to bug off.

Well turns out there really was a remote controlled helicopter on his roof. If you’re the pilot, James would like to give you your copter back.

The North Face to Open in Georgetown

North Face to Open in Georgetown

According to the just announced agenda for next week’s ANC meeting, The North Face is presenting a design concept for a store at 3333 M St. This is the first GM’s ever heard about The North Face opening up in Georgetown, and the Google hasn’t heard about it either.

That space was most recently used for Foto Week DC, and before that it was the doomed-from-the-start Artefacto furniture (when the construction of your building is held up because of a massive sinkhole, that’s not a good omen). It’s a huge space and only so many tenants could carry it, but perhaps the name brand of North Face and it’s proximity to a prime market at Georgetown University will mean success.

Muggers Strike Georgetown

Helen Darling, Block Captain Coordinator of CAG’s Public Safety Committee, sent out word yesterday about a recent wave of muggings in and around Georgetown, all probably perpetrated by the same few individuals. Most recently, there was a mugging Friday night at the corner of O and 28th and 9:45 PM (which VP is reporting involved two female grad students). Full alert from MPD after the jump:

Is This Haunted or Something?

Is This House Haunted or Something?

How else to explain a four-bedroom home on the 3100 block of P St. selling for only $1.195 million?

How can $1.195 be a great deal you ask? Well, another four bedroom house of a similar size just down the block is selling for $2.49 million. Take a closer look at this (perhaps haunted?) house after the jump:
